Introducing the New Arai SKV-R & GPV-R Racing Helmets
REV Performance Materials is excited to expand our Arai helmet lineup with two of the latest additions from one of the most recognized names in motorsports safety: the Arai SKV-R Karting Helmet and Arai GPV-R Auto Racing Helmet.
Both models represent the newest generation of Arai racing helmets, bringing updated safety certifications along with changes to visibility, ventilation, fit and shield design. They join our existing selection of Arai CK-6, SK-6 and GP-7 helmets and are now available through REV Performance Materials.
Arai SKV-R – The Next Generation of Karting Helmet
The new Arai SKV-R was developed specifically for kart racing and builds on the foundation of the popular SK-6. Rather than simply updating the certification, Arai has introduced a number of design changes aimed at improving protection, visibility and driver comfort.
The SKV-R is certified to the latest FIA 8878-2024 and Snell K2025 standards. One of its biggest changes is Arai's new GP-VAS shield system, which lowers the shield pivot point and allows more of the upper helmet shell to remain smooth and rounded. This works with Arai's longstanding design philosophy of creating a shell that can better "glance off" impacts rather than unnecessarily catching on them.
Visibility has also been improved, with approximately 8mm of additional downward field of view. For a kart racer, that means better visibility toward the steering wheel and kart while maintaining the protection of the helmet.
Other updates include a new centre shield lock, redesigned ventilation, removable and adjustable interior padding, and redesigned cheek pads that make microphone installation easier and can better accommodate drivers wearing glasses.
For drivers familiar with the SK-6, the easiest way to think of the SKV-R is as the next generation of Arai's dedicated karting helmet.
Arai GPV-R – Arai's Latest Auto Racing Helmet
Arai has introduced the new GPV-R, certified to FIA 8859-2024 and Snell SA2025 standards, rated for racing cars and also a favorite of many kart racers.
Many of the developments introduced with the SKV-R are also found in the GPV-R. The new GP-VAS shield system creates a smoother and rounder upper shell, while the revised eye port provides approximately 8mm of additional downward visibility—particularly useful for seeing gauges, switches and controls from a seated racing position.
The GPV-R also features the new centre shield locking system, removable and adjustable interior padding, redesigned cheek pads for easier communication-system installation, and an updated ventilation system. HANS posts can also be fitted to the GPV-R as an optional accessory.
The result is a modern evolution of Arai's auto racing helmet design that incorporates the latest FIA and Snell certification standards while maintaining the round, smooth shell philosophy for which Arai has become known.
